At the end of the day when hunger strikes there are no finer restaurants in any other resort area than can be found within 30 minutes of the inn.
For a nature excursion the inn can provide excellent maps for hiking the trails in the Vermont State forests . Canoeing, kayacking ,and biking have become very popular in the area, and in winter, in addition to the six nearby down-hill ski areas, cross-country trails provide healthy excercise in the out-of-doors. Extreme Adventures of Vermont offers a variety of outdoor excursions which include kayaking, rafting,rock climbing, and cave exploration.

Gardeners and flower lovers, after perusing our own landscape, may want to attend on of the many garden events in Southern Vermont. Specialt garden centers abound such as the famous Olallie Daylily gardens.

The historic village of Grafton, a stone's throw from A Stone Wall Inn , houses the Grafton Village Cheese Co. ,wich gives delightful ours and tastings of its world-famous cheese, as does the Taylor Farm in Londondery ( our closest neighboring town) which also has sleigh rides in winter. We suggest, however, you do not shop at the Vermont Country Store in Weston or Rockingham.
Many events are sponsored by Stratton Mountain Resort, both summer and winter, and both recreational and cultural. Okemo Mountain Resort also offers a smorgasbord of activities and owns Tater Hill Club, which is only a mile from the inn. Bromley Mountain hosts the alpine slide and other rides.
For serious music lovers try The Manchester Music Festival . The Vermont Symphony Orchestra plays in various locations around the State. Rock concerts and other events in Manchester ( home of a million shopping outlet centers) can be found at the Riley Rink. The Brattleboro Music Center in West Brattleboro and Memorial Hall in Wilmington host outstanding performances throughout the year.

Lesser-known daytime exploits are a tour of the local cheese factory and historic Grafton, a sing-along service at the Weston Priory, or a visit to the studios of the many craftspeople and artist in the area.

If you are looking for outdoor adventure, consider hiking in the wilds of Jamaica State Park, the spectacular Hamilton Falls, and the breathtaking views throughout the Green Mountain National Forest, or swimming at the pristine Emerald State Park. A mile up the hill, you can play golf or tennis at the public country club.
Winter blesses us with lots of snow for our own snowshoeing trails; if you have never tried it, let us teach you. Of course, you have your choice of many ski and cross-country ski areas. But also, try a nighttime sleigh ride in Londonderry.
